St. John Fisher College officially began construction on its new Integrated Science and Health Sciences Building.

The college is building the $14 million academic facility that will include two flexible learning spaces, teaching labs, a lab preparation room and research space. The college is also investing $2.4 million into the renovation of the existing Skalny Science Center.

The college says the number of nursing, biology and chemistry majors has nearly doubled in the past seven years.

The new building is expected to be ready by fall 2015, while the Skalny Science Center renovation should be complete by fall 2016.
