A 22-year-old Holley man, killed in a one-car crash over the weekend, was a student at the College of Brockport.

Investigators in Genesee County say the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Route 19 just north of the Village of Bergen. We’re told Carmelo Rivera went off the road and hit a piece of farm equipment.

Tuesday, The College at Brockport issued a statement saying, "It is with great sadness that we report to you the death of one of our students. Carmelo Rivera, a 22 year-old exercise science major, passed away in a car accident on Sunday. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Carmelo's family and friends. Our counselors are available at the Hazen Hall Counseling Center for those who would like to talk to someone during this difficult time."

Sheriff's deputies say another car might have seen the crash. They are asking that person to call the sheriff's office at 345-3000.
