A line of storms has moved into western and central New York as forecasters warn of heavy rain, strong winds and hail across much of upstate.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for central New York and the Southern Tier and says rain could cause flash flooding in the eastern part of the state into Tuesday night.

The weather is being driven by a strong cold front pushing east from the Ohio Valley into warm, humid air.

More thunderstorms are possible Wednesday and into the end of the week.
