The New York State Thruway Authority is warning drivers that they need to be aware of an email phishing scam that tries to collect unpaid tolls.
Officials say it is not an authorized email from E-ZPass, the New York State Thruway Authority or any other toll agency associated with E-ZPass. The safest thing to do is delete it.
The Thruway Authority says it does not send email invoices for payments. If you do owe money, they will send an invoice in the mail.
If you have any questions about the validity of any message received from E-ZPass, contact the E-ZPass New York Customer Service Center at 800-333-8655.
