Crews are still on scene working to get power back up and running on Bowerman Road in Farmington. That’s just north of the New York State Thruway. Almost two dozen utility poles were taken down by heavy winds. Bowerman Road is still closed off at this hour.

News10NBC was on the scene Tuesday night as residents began to survey the damage. Many people who were indoors when the storm blew through thought it was just another summer storm until they walked outside and saw the damage.

Don Moore said, “My wife had called me and she said the power is out and I told her I would be back and was coming home. I didn't realize it was to this extent.”

Peter Ingalsbe said, “Well, we are sharing refrigerators that are working off a generator, sharing the cold storage for that and some of them have actually gone out and bought generators.”

For some of the families in this neighborhood, it could be days before their power is restored.
