The College at Brockport hopes to lure businesses near campus thanks to a program offered by New York State.
The college received approval for a START-UP NY application and plan. The program gives 10 years of tax breaks to businesses who relocate on or near college campuses and create jobs.
In a statement, the College at Brockport says it’s now able to accept requests from companies and businesses who want to move to Brockport. "A lot of diligent work has gone into developing our plan," said The College at Brockport President John R. Halstead. "We're now in a strategic position to be drivers in jumpstarting the economy in both Brockport and Rochester while helping our students secure internships and other career opportunities in keeping with our core mission. We look forward to discussing our plan with potential business partners."
