A woman, who broke a car window to rescue a dog inside during hot weather, is receiving an award.

PETA is recognizing Elizabeth Gibson.

Gibson says she was at the East Avenue Wegmans last Thursday when she noticed a small poodle inside a car. The temperatures that day were in the 90’s. Gibson says the windows on the car were barely cracked. She says she started smashing a window with her shoe and finally broke it, rescuing the dog.

Gibson said she was just doing what any Good Samaritan would do.
