Family and friends gathered to remember a 52-year-old grandmother who was found dead inside a Rochester home after a fire earlier this week.

On Thursday night, a vigil for Winnie Butler was held on Fernwood Avenue. Police say Butler was babysitting her four grandchildren when the home went up in flames Tuesday night. Those kids were able to make it out of the house.

Butler’s grandson is facing second-degree arson charges in connection with the fire. Prosecutors say 22-year-old Donkish Lesane intentionally set that fire, but they say his grandmother died before the fire was started. Right now, Lesane is being held in jail without bail. He could be facing additional charges as the investigation continues.
