The death of a 52-year-old grandmother, who was found dead inside a Rochester home after a fire earlier this week, has been ruled a homicide.

Winnie Butler was babysitting her four grandchildren at a home on Fernwood Avenue when the house went up in flames Tuesday night. Those kids were able to make it out of the house.

Butler’s grandson is facing second-degree arson charges in connection with the fire. Prosecutors say 22-year-old Donkish Lesane intentionally set that fire, but they say his grandmother died before the fire was started. Right now, Lesane is being held in jail without bail.

No one has been charged with Butler’s death.
