Family and friends are mourning the loss of a Genesee County sheriff's deputy whom died unexpectedly earlier this week.

His funeral was held Saturday morning at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Le Roy.

Deputy Sheriff Frank Bordonaro, 44, died at his home Tuesday. It’s believed that he died of a heart attack. He was a 19-year veteran of the sheriff’s office.

“I’ll remember his smile the most. When he would come into my office to talk about an issue or make a suggestion, he always had a smile on his face. That’s how I’ll always remember Deputy Frank Bordonaro. He was a great guy and a great family man. He’ll surely be missed, and our department is grieving at this point in time,” said Genesee County Sheriff Gary Maha.

Bordonaro is survived by his wife, Robin, and sons Bryce and Chase.
