Created: 07/12/2014 6:45 PM WHEC.com

A man was seriously injured after he crashed his motorcycle into a stop sign early Saturday morning in Hamlin.

Sheriff’s deputies say John Colaprete, 30, failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Brick Schoolhouse Road and Hamlin Parma Town Line Road, causing him to hit a telephone pole and then hit a stop sign at the intersection.

Investigators say he was thrown from his motorcycle which then caught on fire.

Colaprete was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Deputies say speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
