Police ID shooting victim involved in car crash on Lake Avenue

A 21-year-old man was seriously hurt after he was shot, then involved in a car crash on Lake Avenue.

Police were called to Locust Street near Dewey Avenue for a report of shots fired just after 9:30 a.m. Shortly after that call, officers received another nearby call for a report of a crash on Lake Avenue near Lexington Avenue.

According to officers, the victim of the shooting on Locust Street was riding in a car when it was involved in a crash on Lake Avenue. The victim, 21-year-old Markeese Robbins, suffered one gun shot wound to his body. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious injuries. The other occupants of the car fled the scene. A man driving in a truck involved in the crash also suffered minor injuries.

Right now, it's not clear what exactly happened leading up to the shooting and crash. Police aren't sure if the suspect was in another vehicle or not. If you have any information, you're asked to call 911.
