On Day 6 of Israel's military offensive in Gaza, the U.N. agency in charge of aiding Palestinian refugees says eight schools have been opened as temporary shelters and about 4,000 people have moved in. That's after Israel warned it's preparing military action in a part of the northern Gaza Strip where rockets have been fired at Israel. The area is home to at least 100,000 people.
Palestinians with foreign passports have been leaving Gaza through a border crossing into Israel, which is cooperating in the evacuation.
Early today, Israeli troops launched a brief raid into northern Gaza to destroy what the military describes as a rocket-launching site. Four soldiers were wounded.
