A major grant is coming to St. John Fisher College for the school's nursing program.
On Monday, Senator Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced the college will receive more than $335,000 in federal funds. The money will fund training at the Wegmans School of Nursing for graduate students. The school aims to train the students to serve as primary care family nurse practitioners, who will work with vulnerable and disadvantage people in rural and medically underserved areas.
The funding is the first part of a two year program. Another $363,000 will be given to the college next year.
