A Holley man, who had two warrants out for his arrest, put police on a four hour manhunt after escaping from them.
Police say David Diaz Jr. was wanted for two probation violations in Monroe County. After Holley Police took him into custody Monday, he used the bathroom and then told police he had left the water on. That’s when police say he ran off.
Officer Robert Barton, Holley Police Department, said, "It is difficult because it's a judgment call. He also says that he has asthma and that he was going to have an asthma attack. You have to be concerned about their welfare. Even though they're wanted, you have to make sure nothing is going to happen to them and if it does, then you have to take the appropriate action.”
Police say Diaz was found hiding inside a love seat in a vacant apartment. He faces escape charges in Orleans County, along with the original warrants from Monroe County.
