A Parma man is facing charges after sheriff’s deputies say he fatally shot a peacock.

Mark DiDomenico, 60, of Parma, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators with the Humane Society of Greater Rochester have also charged him with aggravated cruelty to animals.

Sheriff’s deputies say DiDomenico shot his firearm in the direction of his neighbor’s peacocks, killing one of them.

DiDomenico has been issued a ticket to appear in Parma Town Court on August 5.
