Peter Carpino, president of United Way of Greater Rochester, announced Thursday his plans to retire. We’re told Carpino will step down on June 30, 2015.
"Peter Carpino has been a strong leader for our United Way and the entire Rochester community,” said Colleen Wegman, United Way Board Chair. “We are so grateful for his many contributions and leadership through challenging times over the last decade and are also looking forward to what the future holds as we move the organization forward."
Carpino said, "I am honored and privileged to lead this organization - an organization that focuses resources on some of our community's most pressing challenges. There remains much work to be done and I am committed to leading that work in the coming year while also helping the organization through this leadership transition."
Carpino has served as president since 2005.
A 13-member search committee has been charged with recommending a replacement by March 2015.
