A new spot for kids and families in Canandaigua to get out and enjoy the summer sun will open Monday.

The Salvation Army will open a new playground on Saltonstall Street during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 p.m. The new playground will be used by campers and after-schoolers from the Phoenix program, as well as members of the community. The playground that was previously used had been destroyed due to weather.

As a result of this, the organization was able to fast-track the funding so it would be open by summer.
