The driver in a deadly motorcycle crash is now facing charges. Dennis Conklin is charged with vehicular manslaughter and DWI.
Police say he was driving a motorcycle on I-590 Saturday with Mary Nolan riding along with him. Investigators say Nolan died on impact after being thrown from the bike on I-590 northbound at Route 490. Investigators say Conklin then crashed his motorcycle into a concrete barrier.
Dennis Conklin is being held at the Monroe County Jail on $25,000 cash bail.
Close friends say 46-year-old Mary Nolan was creative and full of life. Nolan taught ballet at David Interlicchia’s studio, Dance Biz, in Gates.
David Interlicchia, Dance Biz, said, “My forte is tap dancing and her forte is ballet. When she had her studio, I would go to her studio and teach her tap to her students and she would come here and teach ballet classes.”
Interlicchia says he last spoke to Nolan last week. Now he can’t believe she is gone.
Police say Nolan was killed when she was thrown from a motorcycle on Saturday night. The driver, Dennis Conklin, was also injured after he crashed into a cement barrier shortly after.
On Monday, Interlicchia shared a video of Nolan’s last performance at the studio’s annual recital in June. She was dancing with her daughter and some of her students.
Interlicchia said, “She loved to dance and perform herself, so she danced with her adult students on stage and had a wonderful performance.”
Mary Nolan also worked at Monroe Community College.
