Geva Theatre is bringing its actors back downtown.

The theatre signed a ten year lease on the building at One Woodbury Boulevard and will develop it into 11 studio loft units.  Geva must provide housing for its actors while they are in town for rehearsals and performances. For the last three seasons, Geva has put them in an apartment complex in Gates.

Local leaders say they are excited about this.

Maggie Brooks, Monroe County Executive, said, “There is no question, the Geva Theatre has been a treasure in this community since 1972. Not many people realize it is New York’s biggest performing theatre outside Manhattan. What a point of pride for this community in so many ways.”

The apartments will be ready to house the actors beginning early next year.
