IRS warns of past-due tax scam

The Internal Revenue Service has issued a warning about a new scam. The federal government says scammers are duping people out of millions of dollars in a past-due tax scam.
According to the IRS, scammers call people telling them they filed their taxes incorrectly and they owe the government money and must pay immediately or risk arrest.
Investigators have tracked more than 60,000 of these calls across the U.S. since last October and scammers have collected more than $4-million.
An IRS official says before the IRS ever contacts you over the phone, they send multiple notices in the mail and they never threaten to arrest people.

If you get such a call and suspect it's a scam, hang up and call local law enforcement.
