RG&E and NYSEG have recycled 30,000 refrigerators

It has helped the environment and earned RG&E customers extra cash. On Wednesday, the utility company reached a milestone in a program to recycle refrigerators.

As of now, RG&E and NYSEG recycled 30,000 old refrigerators. The company says those appliances used up enough electricity to power more than 4,000 homes for an entire year.

The program has recycled more than 45 tons of glass, 1,800 tons of metal and safely disposed of carbon dioxide.

RG&E pays customers for recycling old refrigerators.
