Another beach in our area is closed because of algae.

The town of Richmond says Sandy Bottom Beach at the north end of Honeoye Lake is closed due to algae, which is causing poor visibility.

The New York State Department of Health has sampled the water to confirm that toxins are not currently present. They will be doing a visual check of the shoreline on Thursday to determine whether conditions allow for the beach to reopen.

Blue green algae have shut down two public swimming areas at Conesus Lake.
