The Rochester Red Wings used a three-run blast from Josmil Pinto in Jason Wheeler’s Triple-A debut as the Wings clipped the Indianapolis Indians, 5-3 Friday night at Frontier Field. The Wings have now won 3 straight games for the first time since a 6-game streak, June 29-July 4. Rochester also snapped their 5-game losing streak against the Indians and 5-game slide at home to the Indians dating back to 2012. Meanwhile, Indianapolis dropped their 5th straight game overall on Friday.

Josmil Pinto (1-for-4; HR, 3 RBI) launched a three-run blast over the visiting bullpen in left field to give the Wings the 5-2 lead in the 6th inning. Pinto’s homer was his 3rd with the Wings in 23 games and his first since June 21 at Buffalo. The Wings catcher came into the game hitting .200 with 3 XBH and 5 RBI over his last 16 games.

Jason Wheeler pitched five innings in his Triple-A debut allowing 2 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3, leaving the game with the score tied 2-2. Wheeler was taking the spot of Logan Darnell who will start for Minnesota on Saturday against the White Sox. Wheeler was 8-8 with a 3.04 ERA in 19 starts between Ft. Myers (A+) and New Britain (AA) this season.

James Beresford (1-for-3; R, BB) has now recorded a hit in 16 of his last 18 games, hitting .289 (22-for-76) with six doubles, one home run and seven RBI. His double in the sixth inning ties his career-high of 19 set in 2010 at Beloit. In 2014, 22% (23 of 106) of his hits have been for extra bases – after he entered the season with a 12% extra-base clip.

Nate Hanson (1-for-4; 2B, R) extended his hit streak to a season-high 6 games with a double in the sixth inning. Over the six game stretch he’s batting .391 (9-for-23) with 4 2B, HR, 6 R, and 5 RBI. He was just 8-for-39 (.205) over his first 11 games with the Wings.

Reynaldo Rodriguez (0-for-3) went hitless in his Red Wings debut after being called up from Double-A on Thursday after hitting .308 with 32 doubles, 14 homers and 47 RBI for New Britain.
