Man seriously injured in Pavilion crash

A man had to be airlifted from the scene of a Saturday morning crash in Genesee County.

According to officials, Steven Lantz, 47, of Le Roy, was traveling on South Street in the town of Pavilion around 9:15 a.m. Saturday morning, when it appears he feel asleep at the wheel. Lantz's vehicle drifted off the road and struck a telephone pole, cracking it in half.

“When I first pulled up I thought it was going to be really bad, but he was awake and talking. He’s very lucky,” said Pavilion Assistant Fire Chief Dewey Murroch.

He was taken by Mercy Flight to the hospital with serious injuries. Pavilion firefighters and Genesee County Sheriff's deputies were on the scene of the crash.
