The mother accused of leaving her son in her car while she was at work is back at home.
Ontario County Jail officials say Thelma Louise Edwards has been released.
Edwards, 22, was arrested earlier this month and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Deputies say the 22-year-old left her son in the car for more than two hours while she was working inside the TGI Fridays.
The boy was spotted by a passerby who happened to see him when she pulled into the parking lot. That passerby told News10NBC that the boy was alone in the car and said he was scared.
However, supporters say Edwards didn't want to leave her son in the car. She just didn't have any other option at the time and she was working to support her family.
Edwards was able to make bail with the assistance from a GoFundMe account set up for her, according to organizers. That fundraiser has earned more than $2,200 and is still active. Organizers say they want to help Edwards pay for her car and get back on her feet.
