The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a flood watch for Monroe, Ontario, Livingston, Wayne, Genesee, Orleans, Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Niagara, Northern Erie, Southern Erie and Wyoming Counties until 5 p.m. Monday. There is also a flash flood warning until 12:45 p.m. for Monroe and Ontario counties.

The storm system has the potential to produce locally heavy rainfall across Western New York with two to three inches of rain possible.

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding occur.
