A day at the beach took on a whole new meaning for some local children today.

Teens in the Get Real! Science Environmental Action Camp took water samples today from Lake Ontario. They will perform tests to determine water quality to find what bacteria lives in the water and why beaches are closed to swimming some days during the summer.

The camp is a program through the University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education. The students in the camp are from Rochester’s NEAD Freedom Schools
