Parents, teachers and administrators fired back at a lawsuit challenging teacher tenure.

They say eliminating teacher tenure could allow school districts to unfairly fire teachers. A group led by former journalist Campbell Brown filed a lawsuit in Albany Monday to challenge tenure. Two local families are among those who want tenure to end.

The suit claims that tenure protects bad teachers and violates a student’s right to education. At the rally, people upset with the lawsuit effort called Brown's efforts “bogus”.

Rosemary Rivera said, “Everyone deserves due process. These teachers fight for us. They have a heck of a job and for her to say that this is what is taking away our sound basic education for our children is ludicrous.”

People at the rally say that the lawsuit distracts teachers from working with parents to find real solutions to improve public schools.
