News10NBC has learned that several cars were broken into at a sports park in Batavia.

The break-ins happened at Batavia Sports Park on Bank Street Road around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

State police say people at the park returned to their vehicles to find their windows had been smashed and items had been taken from their cars. Police say the suspects were able to get away with 12 purses and some cell phones.

News10NBC spoke to a man who says he believes there must have been more than one person involved. He told us his girlfriend's phone was one of the ones taken.

Police were able to track a cell phone that was still pinging to a location near a hotel in Clarence. At that location, police found three garbage bags full of purses in the dumpster. We're told most of the valuables had been taken out of the purses.

Troopers say they are still looking for the suspects.
