A Rochester man is recovering after police say he was struck by a handgun during an attempted armed robbery on the city's west side.
Police say it happened just after 10 p.m. Wednesday on Lime Street. According to investigators, a 21-year-old man was walking when a suspect rode up to him on a bike, demanded his belongings and hit him with a revolver. Police say the suspect rode away and the victim was able to call 911 from a relative's house. The victim was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. News10NBC learned when the relative found out about the robbery, they got a shot-gun and accidentally discharged it.
Police say that person is not facing any charges and the investigation into the robbery is ongoing.
