The Monroe County Clerk’s Office is warning residents about a telephone scam.
Monroe County Clerk Cheryl Dinolfo says the scam claims that there is a warrant for the phone call receiver’s arrest if they fail to dial an out-of-state phone number by 5:00 p.m. that same day and make payment. The clerk’s office says the caller ID appears as the number of the clerk’s office and that the caller identified himself as calling from the Monroe County Clerk’s Office.
Dinolfo wants to remind residents that the clerk’s office does not make phone calls pertaining to warrants or demands anyone make payments over the phone.
If you receive this call, please contact the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office at 585-753-4178 and file a report.
