A Livonia man is facing felony DWI charges.

Sheriff’s deputies stopped 49-year-old Thomas E. Benson, of Livonia, after they say he failed to stop at the intersection of Poplar Hill Road and Stone Hill Road in Livonia around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Sheriff’s deputies say Benson had a blood alcohol content of 0.29 percent, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 percent. Benson was charged with felony DWI due to a past conviction in the last ten years.  He was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and was issued a number of other violations, including operating a motor vehicle without an interlock device.

Benson was arraigned in Livonia Town Court. He was sent to the Livingston County Jail on $3,000 cash bail.
