Before the storms hit on Saturday evening, young boaters took to the water in Irondequoit for the Junior Olympic Sailing Competition.

Event organizers said the sunshine and light breeze was perfect for sailing.

On Friday, strong winds and rain caused flooding and damage at the Rochester Yacht Club. Organizers say they were lucky they were able to recover from the storm damage.

“I was a little nervous at first because we were sitting right in this building watching it all happen. Once it had settled, we did some investigating and saw that there was just a little bit of damage. It was nothing that we couldn’t get past,” said Regatta Chairperson Natalie Steo.

The sailing competition continues on Sunday.
