Strong storms rolled through the area on Saturday night, and, once again, Avon in Livingston County was hit hard.

Two times in less than a week. Heavy rainfall washed out the bridge on North Littleville Road in Avon. Saturday’s storm was so bad it turned a normally quiet stream into a raging river.

“Just in the time we’ve been here, the water has been coming down Jones Lane and totally flooding all the way across the road,” said David LeFeber, Avon town supervisor.

This is the second time in less than a week that the bridge has been washed out.

“We’ve had a few basements flooded, but more road damage and the culverts washing out,” said Jeff Faugh, East Avon Fire Department’s assistant chief.

The storm brought a lot of water in a short amount of time, making it hard for fire crews to keep up.

“I just heard we had another problem on another road, so just be cautious when traveling,” said Faugh.

Other roads were closed due to flooding, including Reservior Road. Officials are urging everyone to be extra cautious while driving. The water has started to recede, but officials say North Littleville Road will remain closed until tomorrow.
