Rochester City School District to host "State of Our Schools" address

As parents and students prepare for the new school year, the Rochester School Board is preparing to present its take on the state of our schools.

On Thursday, they will hold a back-to-school celebration starting at 5:30 at Benjamin Franklin High School on Norton Street. The event features face painting, outdoor games and refreshments.

The celebration will be followed by an address on the state of the schools in the school's newly renovated auditorium starting at 7 p.m. Superintendent Blogen Vargas will provide an overview of changes in the district over the last year, and share plans for the upcoming school year.
