Representatives urge FAA to require airlines to follow rules

Four congressional representatives from western New York are sending a letter to the FAA. They want all airlines to stick to tougher pilot training requirements recently put in place.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter along with Congressmen Brian Higgins, Chris Collins and Tom Reed wrote FAA Administrator Michael Huerta. They say some airlines are seeking exemptions from the new rules and that could put airline passenger safety at risk.

The representatives want all airlines to stick to the same rules in order for there to be one level of safety for everyone.

The new rules were part of legislation written after the crash of Flight 3407 outside Buffalo in 2009.
