The Rochester Police Department says a motorcycle patrol officer was injured in a crash on Plymouth Avenue Saturday morning.

Investigators say the officer was on patrol for the Carifest parade when a SUV made a left turn in front of the officer. Officials say the officer swerved to avoid the vehicle, but ended up hitting the side of the SUV.

Police say the officer suffered injuries to his back and lower body. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment and was released.

The incident is still under investigation. The driver of the vehicle was also ticketed for failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and making an improper left turn.
