A 17-year-old girl from Wayne County drowned in Lake Ontario Sunday afternoon.

State Police say two campers at Brennan’s Beach in Oswego County saw a female floating in the water just after 4 p.m. We’re told the campers pulled the teen from the water and called 911. Troopers say the victim, Anna-Rose Shove of Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, Shove left the campsite around 12 p.m. Sunday to go to the beach and was not seen again until her body was discovered.

The investigation is ongoing.
