State Police say an effort by troopers to keep you safe on the Thruway is working.

Troopers say there were no fatalities on I-90 between August 1 and August 4. It’s a result of the "I-90-94 Challenge". I-90 is the New York State Thruway and I-94 is the interstate that continues all the way into Montana.

Police from 15 states participated and say between August 1 and August 4, there were zero fatal crashes on those busy roads.

Troopers were doing full enforcement and handed out more than 1,600 traffic tickets, including 971 for speeding.
