Do you follow instructions when taking your prescribed medications?

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield just released a new study saying more than half of people in our area don't take medications as prescribed for four main chronic illnesses. They are: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression.

The organization is teaming up with the Red Wings to change this statistic. The two want to set a new world record during this Friday’s game -- the largest amount of people doing the wave while wearing capes. It’s part of the “TAD” campaign which stands for take as directed.

VP and Chief Pharmacy Officer of Excellus BCBS Mona Chitre said, “Taking your medication as prescribed is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health and have a good quality of life.”

The Red Wings will hand out capes to the first 5,000 fans who come to this Friday’s game.
