A certified nursing assistant (CNA), accused of hitting a 90-year-old woman suffering from dementia, has pleaded guilty to harassment charges.
Investigators with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman’s office tells News10NBC Adrian King, a CNA at Wesley Gardens nursing home, slapped a 90-year-old resident in the face. We’re told the incident happened on May 16.
Schneiderman said, “When a family entrusts a loved one to the care of a nursing home, they expect courtesy, kindness, and professionalism—none of which the resident received in this case, as we allege. Today’s charges reflect my office’s dedication to protecting our most vulnerable, including the elderly and the disabled, by ensuring that those entrusted to provide care to them will be held accountable when they violate that trust.”
King was originally charged with endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person or an incompetent or physically disabled person, willful violation of health laws and harassment. She pleaded guilty to second-degree harassment
King will be sentenced on January 12, 2015.
