One person was killed in a five-vehicle crash in Ontario County. It happened on Route 96 in the Town of Farmington around 12:25 p.m.
Sheriff’s deputies say a pickup truck was westbound on Route 96 when its front tire came off and went under a grain truck that was eastbound on Route 96. We’re told that caused the grain truck to lose control and go into the westbound lane, hitting a third vehicle. The 56-year-old male driver of that vehicle was killed. We're told he worked for the Hopewell Town Highway department.
Investigators say the grain truck kept going and hit two more vehicles. Two occupants in one of those vehicles were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies have not released the names of anyone involved in the crash.
