Officials with RG&E and NYSEG tell News10NBC their customers are receiving suspicious calls.
We're told someone claiming to be from RG&E and NYSEG is telling customers they have an overdue bill and in order to avoid having their service shut off, they have to purchase a debit card and contact the caller with the card information. Officials say this is a scam and that they would never instruct a customer to purchase a debit card to pay for an account.
They are asking anyone who has questions about their account to call RG&E or NYSEG.
