Autism Speaks awards dinner

WHEC cares about our community and the families in it. Wednesday night, many people turned out for a special awards dinner that raised awareness for autism.

Autism Speaks of Rochester and the Finger Lakes raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for projects and resources for families dealing with autism.

Colleen O'Connell is a mother with children on the spectrum who benefit from Autism Speaks. “I think it's crucial to have an organization like this. If we don't have the scientific knowledge, where are we going to go with it? The kids aren't going to have any answers.”

This event was the official kick off for the “Walk Now for Autism Speaks” which will be October 11 at MCC.
