The Internal Revenue Service is warning Americans about a widespread phone scam that's already cost victims millions of dollars.
The agency has received some 90,000 complaints of unsolicited calls from individuals demanding payment while fraudulently claiming to be from the IRS.
According to the IRS, crooks have already stolen some $5-million from unsuspecting victims.
The IRS says its first contact with people is always via U.S. mail and IRS employees never threaten tax payers for immediate payment.
