→THE ROCHESTER RED WINGS were stymied by the Durham Bulls as they were shutout for the 11th time this season losing 9-0 after being held to two hits by Bulls starter Merrill Kelly who pitched six innings while striking out five. The Bulls outhit the Wings 16-4.
→ON DECK: The Wings begin a 4-game series against the first-place Syracuse Chiefs on Friday night at Frontier Field. Rochester will enter the series 4.0 GB of the Chiefs and 3.0 GB of Pawtucket in the Wild Card.
→ALEX MEYER lasted just 3 2/3 innings allowing two runs on four hits (home run to Hak-Ju Lee) and three walks while striking out seven in his 84 pitch outing (45 strikes). Meyer has now struggled in back-to-back outings going 0-2 with a 9.53 ERA (6 ER/5.2 IP) after posting a 1.77 ERA (8 ER/40.2 IP) over his previous 7 starts.
→WILKIN RAMIREZ (1-for-4) extended hitting streak to 10 games, batting .341 (15-for-44) with 3 2B, 4 R, and 7 RBI over that stretch. The 10-game stretch is his second double-digit hitting streak of the season, his last was a career-long 12-game streak from 5/28-6/10.
→AARON HICKS (2-for-3) has recorded a hit in five of his seven games with the Wings since his promotion to the Red Wings, batting .333 (8-for-24) with a 2B, HR, 3 RBI, and 4 R. The switch-hitter also has three multi-hit games in just seven played with Rochester this season. Since July 1, combined between New Britain and Rochester, Hicks is batting .338 (44-130).
→A.J. ACHTER came in relief of Meyer tossing 2 1/3 innings allowing three hits while striking out two batters and stranding both inherited runners. In his previous four outings Achter had pitched to a 11.12 ERA (7 ER/5.2 IP) allowing the opposition to hit .375 (9-for-24) while allowing 3 of 4 inherited runners to score.
→DEOLIS GUERRA was taken out of the game after 1 2/3 innings pitched and now has allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out three in 3 1/3 innings pitched over his last two outings.
