Sara Quinn is the ladies club champ at Monroe Golf Club. She graduated from Mercy High School in 2012 and now she's on the team at Fairfield University in Connecticut. She's made some amazing connections thanks to the Wegmans LPGA.
One of those connections, professional golfer Kristy McPherson. Quinn said, “Through Paychex and the LPGA I’ve had a lot of opportunity to play with the pros through the Pro-Ams and formed relationship with these players.”
This is an opportunity not many young golfers get. Quinn even follows McPherson on her tours. “They're great people. It’s really cool to come out here and watch and kind of look up to them and see what maybe I can become one day.”
Quinn's mother Grace has been going to the Wegmans LPGA since the 80's. This is where her daughter's dreams started to grow. “It's been a big part of our community. It's been a big part of encouraging golf. The game of golf is very popular here. It’s just sad. It’s sad that they're leaving.”
Quinn, along with many golf fans, hope something can be worked out to bring another tournament to Rochester. In the meantime, they are enjoying the final year.
