The woman charged in connection with the beating death of an Irondequoit mother has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
The Monroe County District Attorney tells News10NBC Joanne Armour beat 28-year-old Lacandice Miles with a large tree branch inside Miles’ home during a domestic dispute. We’re told Miles’ body was discovered the next day when a maintenance worker at the Strathmore Circle Apartments complex heard a baby’s nonstop crying.
Armour was taken into custody by police three weeks after the murder in Chicago.
Prosecutor Mary Randall said, “Just days before Christmas in 2013, Joanne Armour savagely took the life of a member of our community, leaving four young children without their mother. While this conviction won't return Ms. Miles to her family, it will at least provide them with a sense of closure while removing a dangerous individual from our streets."
Armour is expected to receive 18 to 20 years to life in prison when sentenced on September 10.
