It was a night of returns at St. John Fisher. The Bills are back on the field after being away for eight days.
Cordy Glenn practiced with the team for the first time, and Leodis McKelvin is back in the mix, all good news. One return did not happen. Sammy Watkins remains out after injuring his ribs in Saturday’s preseason game. There is no time table for his return, but the injury is not considered serious.
It was good to see Cordy Glenn back on the field practicing with the team for the first time this camp. The offensive lineman had been sidelined with an undisclosed injury. He started all 16 games last season, and Glenn could be a boost to an offense that needs it. The first teamers haven’t scored a touchdown in three preseason games.
The red zone struggles have carried over from last season, with the started not expected to play in the final preseason game. This weekend against the Bucs will be the last time to get it right.
“We want to score points. That's our job, but you know the frustration is there to go back and correct the mistakes. The biggest thing we don't want to do is to keep correcting the same mistakes. That’s when the frustration sets in,” said C.J. Spiller, Bills running back.
“No excuses, but we didn't even have red zone into the game plan, but no excuses. We have to score when we are down there get the catches. We’ll see this week. The red zone is in this week,” said Mike Williams, Bills wide receiver.
